Diamond League Rome: Great Britain’s Molly Caudery and Georgia Hunter Bell win in pole vault and 1500m

World indoor champions Molly Caudery and Georgia Hunter Bell triumphed in the pole vault and 1500 meters at the Diamond League meeting in Rome.

Hunter Bell, who won his first world championship in Torun in March, broke away from the leading group and won at Stadio Olimpico in three minutes and 58.63 seconds.

Two-time world indoor champion Caudery won the pole vault championship with a jump of 4.80 meters.

In the meeting that attracted great interest from the British, Keely Hodgkinson, who also won the indoor race in Poland, finished seventh in a rare race in the 400 meters.

The 24-year-old was unable to compete at an unusual distance and finished the race in 51.14 seconds, while her compatriot Amber Anning came in fifth with 50.19.

In the women’s 200 meters, Amy Hunt and Dina Asher-Smith placed fourth and fifth respectively with times of 22.52 and 22.76 seconds, while Olympic champion Julien Alfred won from world champion Melissa Jefferson-Wooden.

Meanwhile, Olympic champion Noah Lyles won the men’s 100 meters in 9.88 seconds, ahead of Cameroonian Emmanuel Eseme and Botswana Letsile Tebogo, while Great Britain’s Jeremiah Azu came ninth in 10.12.
