Gold Ornaments On Elderly Woman’s Dead Body Allegedly Stolen At Jagtial Hospital

Karimnagar: In a shocking incident, gold ornaments were allegedly stolen from the body of an elderly woman who died at the Government General Hospital in Jagtial district.
Sources revealed that the victim was a resident of Nachupally village in Kodymial mandal. He was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) due to his long-term illness. He died on Thursday morning while receiving treatment. Family members took the body to their home. While preparing for the last rites, they noticed that the gold earrings the woman was wearing were missing.
Suspicious of the incident, his relatives rushed to the hospital and organized a protest, accusing the hospital staff of stealing from the deceased. The incident sparked outrage among local residents, with many expressing disbelief and anger that such an act could take place in a government-run healthcare facility.
The woman’s family lodged a formal complaint with the Jagtial Town Police. Relatives demanded a full investigation into the behavior of intensive care staff on duty at the time of the woman’s death. They claimed that the staff removed the decorations before handing over the body to them.
Police have registered a case and are investigating. Authorities stated that they interrogated hospital staff and examined evidence to identify those responsible.
No official statement has been made from the hospital management yet. Police assured the family that strict action would be taken if any staff member was proven to be involved.
