Liberal Democrat MP Cameron Thomas ‘arrested on suspicion of assault’

It is understood a Liberal Democrat MP has been arrested on suspicion of controlling and coercive behavior and assault.
Tewkesbury MP Cameron Thomas was arrested by Gloucestershire Police on Wednesday night. He was interviewed before being released on bail.
The Liberal Democrats said on Thursday that Mr Thomas’s flogging had been suspended pending the outcome of the police investigation.
“On Wednesday 17 June, a man in his 40s from Tewkesbury was arrested on suspicion of controlling and coercive behavior and assault,” Gloucestershire Police said in a statement on Friday. he said.
“The man was later questioned by officers before being released on police bail.
“The investigation into the allegations against him continues.”
A Liberal Democrat spokesman previously said: “Cameron Thomas MP has suspended the party pending the outcome of the police investigation.
“We cannot comment further as the police investigation is ongoing.”
It is understood Mr Thomas’s party membership has also been suspended.
The former RAF officer was elected in the 2024 general election.
