Ramayana Set for First Look at San Diego Comic-Con; Actors Ranbir Kapoor, Yash to Join

Producer Namit Malhotra will organize a special event for his highly anticipated film ‘Ramayana’ at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, offering fans a first look at the project, which is positioned as one of the biggest projects in Indian cinema. Malhotra will be joined on stage by lead stars Ranbir Kapoor, who plays the role of Lord Rama, and Kannada superstar Yash, who plays the role of Ravana. Filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari, who directed the ambitious saga, will also be present at the event, scheduled to take place on July 23. According to details shared on Comic-Con’s official website, the panel promises an exclusive first look at ‘Ramayana’, as well as never-before-seen footage, special screenings, live performances and special giveaways.

The official description on the website reads: “In an age of gods and kings, the fate of worlds hangs in the balance. Rama, a prince devoted to duty, sacrifice, and the greater good, must confront Ravana, an immortal ruler driven by pride and revenge, powerful enough to tear the universe apart.”

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and backed by Namit Malhotra, founder of Prime Focus and global CEO of Academy Award-winning visual effects studio DNEG, ‘Ramayana’ has created a huge buzz since its announcement. The series, planned as a two-part series, is one of the biggest projects of Indian cinema. Inspired by the ancient epic Ramayana, the film revolves around the story of Rama, who is believed to be the avatar of Lord Vishnu. It describes his journey as the prince of Ayodhya, his exile and his battle with Ravana. Besides Ranbir, the film stars Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman.

The film’s music is composed by Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman. The first part of ‘Ramayana’ will be released on Diwali 2026, while the second part is expected to be released on Diwali 2027.
