GRP Fires 10 Rounds at 2 Suspects for Tampering With Railway Signals

Guntur: Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel fired 10 rounds at two suspects who allegedly tried to disrupt railway signals near Aluru railway gate near Nidubrole railway station in Ponnuru mandal of Guntur district in the early hours of Tuesday.

According to GRP DSP Akkeswara Rao, police personnel were keeping a strict vigil at nights following frequent incidents of robbers halting trains and looting passengers.

During the patrol, they noticed two men operating under suspicious circumstances carrying tools and other equipment used to cut electrical cables.

The suspects allegedly threw stones at the police when GRP personnel tried to apprehend them. In response, GRP personnel opened 10 shots at the traitors. However, the suspects managed to escape under the cover of darkness.

Ponnuru police registered a case and special teams were formed to trace and nab the suspects.
