Harry and Meghan are named ‘Humanitarians of the Year’ after arriving hand-in-hand at glitzy award ceremony – hours after King Charles and Prince William put on a united front

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were named ‘Humanitarians of the Year’ in a magnificent ceremony after entering New York hand in hand.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were presented with the award at the Project Health Minds mental health gala, held in the opulent Spring Studios venue.
The beaming couple locked hands tightly together as Meghan gazed lovingly at her husband before the event.
Their appearance came just hours after the Duke’s estranged brother William put up a united front with King Charles during a rare joint public meeting of father and son.
The royal family arrived at the Natural History Museum in London from Buckingham Palace, where they had previously gathered, to take part in the ‘Countdown to COP30’.
The event brings together organizations and individuals tackling the global environmental crisis ahead of the United Nations annual climate change summit in Brazil this November
Meanwhile, the Project Health Minds website describes Harry as a ‘humanitarian, mental health advocate, environmentalist and military combat veteran’.
Aside from Harry’s work with mental health companies, his controversial 2021 memoir Spare is also mentioned among his achievements.

The nonprofit also emphasizes that its ‘lifelong advocacy for women and girls remains a constant thread woven into both humanitarian and business ventures.’

But the royal couple’s reward comes as a critical letter was published by the Chadian government targeting a charity with which the Duke is closely linked.
The country’s environment minister, Hassan Bakhit Djamous, accused African Parks, which counts Harry among its board members, of financial misconduct and “disrespect”.
In a damning four-page letter, Mr Djamous said African Parks had displayed a “consistently rude and disrespectful attitude” towards his government.
The charity, which Harry chaired for six years before joining the board in 2023, looks after more than 20 protected national parks and reserves in 13 countries on behalf of their governments.
Its supporters include famous billionaire investors Warren Buffet and Bill Ackman, and its backers include the EU, WWF and the People’s Postcode Lottery.
But Mr Djamous accused the company of illegally collecting tourist revenue, using tax-shield bank accounts in the Isle of Man and transferring assets abroad in ‘blatant violation’ of Chad’s banking laws.
The Duke, 41, was at the Movember Men’s Health Institute last night for a sit-down interview.
He talked about how many men are groomed by algorithms and how speaking to veterans after finishing service in the British Army sparked his advocacy for mental health.

‘I found myself talking to many veterans, and as I sat with them I realized that silence kills people,’ he said, adding, ‘We have come a long way in eliminating stigma around the world. ‘Access to therapy is still a big problem.’
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex said in a joint statement: ‘Working with families and young people to prioritize online safety has been some of the most meaningful work of our lives.
‘As parents, we were moved by the power of their stories and are honored to support them.
‘We are proud to be long-standing partners of the Healthy Minds Project as we work together to shed light on what remains one of the most pressing issues of our time.’
