Debate over the Royal status of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has reignited following King Charles’ decision to strip his brother Andrew of his titles.
The Duchess of Sussex has recently been accused of taking advantage of the couple’s Royal connections through her own lifestyle brand. In promotional shots for the Christmas collection, Meghan was shown with a notebook on her desk, prominently displaying the Royal code in gold letters.
The monogram, which features the letter M crowned with a crown, appeared before her wedding to Harry in 2018.

The expression ‘spiteful’ emerged
He had previously revealed that the deterioration in relations between the Sussex couple and Buckingham Palace came about after the duo had to abandon their “SussexRoyal” branding ambitions. “While neither the monarchy nor the cabinet office has any jurisdiction over the use of the word ‘royal’ abroad, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex do not intend to use ‘Sussex Royal’ or any iteration of the word ‘royal’ in any territory (whether within the United Kingdom or elsewhere) when the transition takes place in spring 2020,” the statement said.
Mr Bower described the statement as “vindictive anger”. “This was rude behavior towards the Queen.”
Speaking to the Daily Mail, he added that the statement did little to hide his “simmering resentment” at the Sussexes’ other relatives and included a thinly veiled swipe at “junior royals” Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.

“While there is a precedent for other titled members of the royal family to seek employment outside the institution, a 12-month review period has been put in place for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex,” the statement continued.
From March 2020, the Sussexes stopped working as royals and therefore lost the right to use their HRH titles. Tom claimed that Harry assured his family that they would “never” use their titles for financial gain.
But shortly after the Sandringham Summit, Harry flew to Miami for a JP Morgan event.

But Tom claimed palace insiders were “horrified” by the lucrative appearance.

‘Double blow’
The royal expert argued this was the “commercialization of the monarchy” that Harry had vowed to avoid during Sandringham talks in January 2020. Harry and Meghan first adopted the Sussex Royal brand in 2019, when they separated their home from Prince William and Princess Kate, known as Kensington Royal.
Their Instagram page @sussexroyal had reached 11.2 million followers at the time, equaling the fan base of William and Kate’s account.
But the following year it emerged that the Queen and senior officials had decided that the couple should give up their titles. A source told the Mail: “This is inevitable in many respects given their decision to resign. But it will certainly be a double blow as they have invested everything in the Sussex Royal brand. “But the Queen had little choice.
“The Sussexes’ original plan – to be half-in, half-out working royals – was never going to work. Clearly, as the Queen has made clear, they are still much-loved members of her family. But they simply cannot be allowed to market themselves as royalty if they are not performing official duties and are now seeking other business opportunities.”
