Harry faces huge Invictus Games nightmare: ‘William will forbid it!’ | Royal | News

It was previously reported that Harry wanted his father to attend this year’s countdown event with him. The Duke, who has had a bitter feud with his family for some time, has spoken openly about his desire for reconciliation on several occasions. While it is not yet clear whether Harry has reached out to the King or whether the monarch would accept a possible invitation, Mr Bowers said he believed it would be something Prince William would “prohibit”.

Speaking in the latest edition of the Daily Expresso, Mr Bowers told presenter broadcaster and journalist JJ Anisiobi that he did not believe the King would attend the meeting.

Mr Anisiobi asked the author: “So you don’t think there’s a chance King Charles could walk in for five minutes, say hello, smile for the cameras, shake his son’s hand and then hop into the Rolls-Royce?”

Mr. Bowers replied: “I don’t. In fact. Not least because of what we are discussing, but also because I think William would forbid it.”

He added: “I think William’s role in all of this is quite critical and he wants a smooth transition. He wants to change the monarchy. Understandable. He wants to modernize it. He needs to appeal to young people and other things.”

“He doesn’t want to be involved in any further controversy, especially to benefit Harry and Meghan.”

The Duke of Sussex joined the HALO Trust and traveled near the town of Bucha on Friday for a demonstration of the latest digital demining technology.

The Duke of Sussex said during his surprise visit that he will always be part of the royal family, adding that he was “doing what I was born to do” in the war-torn country.

Harry’s comments followed his impassioned speech at the Kiev Security Forum on Thursday, in which he called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to “stop this war” and called on the “American leadership” to fulfill its obligations in the Ukraine conflict.
