A newly published UK security report reveals Prince Harry could face “six terrorist threats”. The 41-year-old will spend a few days in England next week, with the main reason for the trip being to take part in the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham next July.
The latest revelation comes as Harry is said to be undecided about whether it is safe to bring his wife, Meghan Markle, and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to the UK with him. It was previously reported that Meghan and their children would also be joining him, but Archie and Lilibet would not be making any public appearances.
The highly sensitive security report, released on Wednesday evening, details dozens of threats and potential attacks facing the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, including an Al Qaeda document calling for Harry to be assassinated.
The document has been submitted to the UK security committee, which will decide whether Harry will receive state-funded protection while traveling in the UK.
It was recently reported that the Executive Committee for the Protection of the Royal Family and Public Figures (RAVEC) had “paused” the independent Risk Management Board (RMB) without explanation.
The Duke of Sussex’s office is said to have been previously informed that this would be resolved in March.
A copy of the report obtained by ITV News yesterday found there were “at least six plots against Duke by jihadist and right-wing threat actors targeting other high-profile Britons”.
The US-based security firm employed by Harry and Meghan highlighted that the “highest priority threat” to the Sussexes comes from stochastic terrorism (also known as grassroots or single-actor terrorism).
The “Threat and Vulnerability Risk Assessment”, marked “Confidential”, also reports that the UK Metropolitan is aware of approximately 500 potential stalkers targeting the Royal Family. Half of them pose threats to Harry, Meghan, seven-year-old Archie and five-year-old Lilibet.
Although Harry is fifth in line to the throne and his children are sixth and seventh, Harry’s UK security was removed in 2020 following his decision to step down from royal duties and move to the US.
