Health sector took long leap in country during PM Modi’s regime: Nadda
Speaking after his inspection with officials in nearby Bibinagar, he also said that the construction of AIIMS Bibinagar will be fully completed by December 2026.
He said only one AIIMS existed until the end of the 20th century and six AIIMS institutions were created in 2003 during the Atal Bihari Vajpayee regime.
He said that only one AIIMS was established from 2004 to 2014 (previous UPA regime).
“In 2014, under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, a major step was taken in tertiary healthcare and 19 AIIMS were created. Currently, there are 23 AIIMS and 18 are functional while the rest are under construction,” he told reporters.
He said that the NDA government is taking care of tertiary healthcare, strengthening secondary healthcare and making efforts to expand primary healthcare.
He said 1.85 lakh Ayushman Bharat ‘Arogya Mandirs’ (health centres) have been established. Bibinagar was approved in June 2022 and became operational within four years, AIIMS said.
Nadda said OPD services for all major specialties have started at AIIMS, Bibinagar and the daily footfall is around 1,800.
Bibinagar said that 1.56 lakh people are receiving treatment through telemedicine through AIIMS as inpatient treatment begins.
So far, around Rs 64 million has been approved in research grants at AIIMS in Bibinagar. He said the institution is now a full-fledged patient care center and also a full-fledged research centre.
Praising AIIMS for its efforts in the field of community medicine, Bibinagar said that the country’s first AIIMS-run Community Radio Station was established by the institution.
AIIMS expressed confidence that Bibinagar will emerge as a leading institution in the southern states.
