Heartbreak as adored amusement park confirms closure after 25 years | UK | News

Families have been devastated as it was confirmed that a much-loved theme park will soon close following a failed relocation bid to the council. East Links Family Park in East Lothian, Scotland, will have its last trading day on August 31.

Dunbar park has announced that its lease on the current site has been completed after 25 years. Despite efforts to stay open, the council rejected a planning application to move to a new farm 10 minutes away. His later objection was also rejected. Visitors described it as a “huge loss” for the area east of Edinburgh.

One visitor wrote: “I was so saddened to read this. Like many others, we spent many happy family times with you when our children were younger.”

The park attracted families with a variety of activities such as animal shelters, train rides, go-karts, trampolines and bouncy castles.

East Links Family Park has confirmed that the “fantastic team”, equipment and animals will be moving to the Clyde Valley Family Park in South Lanarkshire, south of Glasgow, which they opened in 2018.

In a closing statement on social media, the team said: “Thank you all for 25 years of fun and family memories and we hope you’ll join us for the next chapter at Clyde Valley Family Park!”

Following the announcement, the business was forced to close its comments, saying there were “too many for us to read them all.”

A spokesperson for the business added: “Thank you all for the wonderful outpouring of love and memories! It means so much to hear how much the park we have created means to you all. I hope to see you all in Clyde Valley this summer and next year!”

Many disappointed visitors shared their memories with the team. One person wrote: “A great loss for the area, great for young children and adults alike, great memories of cycling and feeding the animals. I loved the goats. I was hoping one day in the future I could take my grandchildren here to rekindle those memories.”

Another added: “This is a huge loss for East Lothian. Best wishes.”
