Hegseth says next few days in Iran war will be decisive

US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth said in a briefing that the next few days will be decisive in the conflict in the Middle East and that there are major desertions from the Iranian armed forces.

“We have more and more options, they have less and less… we have set the terms in just a month, the coming days will be decisive,” Hegseth said.

“Iran knows this, and there is almost nothing they can do about it militarily.”

Hegseth said, based on intelligence, that the attacks hurt the morale of the Iranian military.

This has triggered widespread desertions, key personnel shortages and caused frustration among senior leaders, he said.

Trump’s social media post came after US strikes hit a city home to one of Iran’s main nuclear facilities, sending a massive fireball into the sky, and Iran attacked a fully loaded Kuwaiti oil tanker in the Persian Gulf.

More ships are flowing through the Strait of Hormuz, Hegseth said at the briefing.

“There are countries around the world that need to be ready to step into this critical waterway,” he told reporters.
