A police officer misidentified in a 999 call about Henry Nowak was forced to go into hiding after receiving death threats, Ms Mahmood told the House of Commons.
He said there was a ‘dangerous undercurrent’ in the response to the crime, adding that any threat to police officers was unacceptable.
‘There can be no justification for intimidation, harassment or attempts to take the law into one’s own hands,’ he said.
