Israel strikes Lebanon, killing one and wounding seven

Israel launched intense airstrikes into southern Lebanon, killing one person, wounding seven and briefly cutting off the highway link to Beirut.
The Ministry of Health said that pre-dawn attacks on the village of Msayleh on Saturday hit a shop selling heavy machinery and destroyed many vehicles.
According to Hezbollah’s Al-Manar TV, a vehicle carrying vegetables was also hit during the attack, killing one person and injuring another.
The Ministry of Health later said that the victim was a Syrian citizen, while the injured were Syrian citizens and six Lebanese, including two women.
The Israeli military said it hit a site where machinery to be used to rebuild the Hezbollah militant group’s infrastructure was stored.
Since the 14-month-long Israel-Hezbollah war ended with a US-brokered ceasefire in late November, Israel has carried out air strikes that have killed dozens of people almost every day.
Israel accuses Hezbollah of trying to rebuild its capabilities after suffering heavy losses during the war.
The most recent Israel-Hezbollah conflict killed more than 4,000 people in Lebanon, including hundreds of civilians. 127 people, including 80 soldiers, lost their lives in Israel.
The war began when Hezbollah began firing rockets at the border on October 8, 2023, a day after a deadly Hamas attack on southern Israel triggered the war in Gaza.
Israel responded with bombings and airstrikes on Lebanon, and the two sides became embroiled in an escalating conflict that escalated into full-blown war in late September 2024.
