1. NEET candidate delay: Bengaluru Traffic Police ignores incident-related congestion

The Bengaluru Traffic Police has issued a ‘fact check report’ regarding a NEET aspirant who allegedly missed entry to the examination center due to rush hour on June 21. According to the report, based on CCTV footage, interactions with the candidate and their parents and route analysis, the candidate left his residence in RT Nagar at 12.57 pm. He reached the examination center area three minutes after the scheduled check-in time of 13.30.

Police said CCTV footage and route analysis confirmed the candidate left home 33 minutes before cutoff time. Investigators also found that he chose a longer route even though there was a shorter route that would have enabled faster travel. The report stated that traffic conditions that day were generally normal. There was no significant traffic congestion attributable to a public event being held in Bengaluru.

2. Tejasvi Surya asks new minister to speed up transparency panel and metro works in Bengaluru

Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya has called on newly appointed Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda to introduce a series of governance, infrastructure and mobility reforms to address what he described as years-long “administrative deficiencies” in the city. Mr. Surya detailed the suggestions he presented to the new minister at the press conference.

The MP proposed a 15-point agenda covering transparency, roads, public transport, urban planning, environment, waste management, housing and governance. A key recommendation was to create a public Unified Infrastructure Accountability Platform within 60 days.

3. Triple murder in Bengaluru: Three family members killed, police suspect girlfriend and boyfriend

A 55-year-old man, his wife and their younger daughter were murdered late on the night of June 22 in an apartment in east Bengaluru, allegedly by their elder daughter and her boyfriend. The identities of the dead were stated as Somasundar (55), Muthulakshmi (48) and Supriya (20). Their bodies were found in a flat in Sai Green Apartment in Dhamnika Layout in Seegehalli.

The accused Shwetha and her boyfriend Kenneth were allegedly in a relationship which the family opposed and which often led to arguments. The couple and their younger daughter had visited Shwetha around 7 pm. Police suspected an argument about a relationship, which escalated and the accused then stabbed the trio to death before fleeing.

4. Bengaluru will host the meeting of heads of space agencies of BRICS on June 23-24

BRICS Heads of Space Agencies (HOSA) 2026 meeting is being held in Bengaluru. India, the 2026 Chairman of BRICS, is hosting HOSA on 23 and 24 June. The theme is Building for Resilience, Innovation, Collaboration and Sustainability.

The heads and senior representatives of the space agencies of 11 BRICS member countries (Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates) will attend the meeting.
