River City actor Iain Robertson faces jail after being found guilty of rape and sex assaults

River City player Iain Robertson was arrested on Tuesday after raping a woman and sexually assaulting two people.
The 45-year-old man was found guilty of a total of five charges following a trial at the High Court in Glasgow.
The disgraced former Bafta winner, who was booted from BBC Scotland when the crimes were revealed, had denied the accusations, which spanned between 2004 and 2020.
Robertson, of Carbeth, Strilingshire, faces a lengthy prison sentence when he returns to court to be sentenced in Edinburgh next month.
He was released on bail but showed no emotion as he was arrested.
The rape victim’s pre-recorded statement was heard during the hearing.
Jurors concluded that Robertson raped the 36-year-old on a single occasion between 2018 and 2019 and also committed a separate sexual assault on her.
He offered a specific defense that everything that happened with this woman was consensual.

Evidence of another sexual incident involving a second woman was heard, which would corroborate the rape accusation.
He was said to have pressured the man, now 48, as he met with others in the Lake District in September 2007.
Jurors were not required to make a verdict on that charge.
But he recalled how Robertson, upset that he was playing a “stupid” game with his friends, attacked.
He had sex with her in her bedroom without her consent.
Robertson was also found guilty of mistreating the rape victim.
He was also found guilty of assaulting the woman in the Lake District incident; This includes pouring wine on women and their college studies.
Robertson became violent towards a third woman, who was a fellow actor at the time.
The 40-year-old actor recalled an incident he experienced the day before he went to a photo shoot for his acting work in 2014.
Describing an argument, she said Robertson ‘threw’ at her, adding: ‘Something happened where I was cowering because I thought he was going to hit me.
“If you think I’m going to hit you, I will,” he said.
‘My hands and arms were above my head. ‘I don’t remember whether he hit me or not.’
After breaking up with Robertson, she told how he pursued her with an ‘obsessive’ amount of calls and voicemails.
He also oddly sent boxes of snacks to theaters where Graze was performing, after checking his whereabouts.
Robertson was found guilty of one assault charge involving this woman and cleared of the other.

He was also guilty of using threatening and abusive behavior towards her.
Robertson was eventually found not guilty of abusive behavior towards a fourth woman.
He testified during his trial and admitted he was ‘no angel’, but insisted he was innocent of the crimes.
But in his address to jurors, depute Mr Keenan said his evidence was ‘completely unbelievable and unreliable’.
Following the verdicts, it emerged that Robertson had been convicted of road traffic offenses as well as one count of misdemeanor assault. He had never been to prison before.
He first appeared in court for these latest allegations in February 2024, following a police investigation.
Gary Allan KC, defending, said Robertson had been ‘frozen by the acting profession’ since the accusations emerged.
He wanted his client not to remain in prison until sentencing, but Lady Drummond said: ‘I have considered the bail application, but Mr Robertson, your situation has now changed.
‘You have been convicted of several crimes and will remain in custody in the meantime.’
Robertson was also placed on the sex offenders register.
