Although he presents himself as a president of peace, President Donald Trump is not afraid to launch deadly rocket attacks on America’s enemies when the need arises.

In 2025, Trump ordered attacks on nine different countries and regions in an effort to advance U.S. national security.

Here are the countries, groups and regions that felt the power of the US military in action this year.

Somali terrorists were targeted

Throughout the year, the United States continued to conduct airstrikes against ISIS groups and Al-Shabaab in Somalia.

According to a statement from US Africa Command, 14 ISIS-Somalia operatives were killed in an airstrike targeting a series of cave complexes in northern Somalia on February 1; Among them is Ahmed Maeleninine, ISIS’ key recruiter, financier, and foreign operations leader responsible for the deployment of militants across the United States and Europe.

Houthis in Yemen

Thousands of miles from U.S. sovereign territory, the Trump War Department launched deadly strikes on Iran-backed Houthi terrorist fighters in Yemen as part of a mission dubbed “Operation Rough Rider.” The attacks were carried out in response to attacks on US military and commercial ships traveling in the Red Sea.

War Department spokesman Sean Parnell said in May that the U.S. Central Command strikes had been carried out since March and had “hit more than 1,000 targets, killing Houthi fighters and leaders and weakening their capabilities.”

Parnell described the strikes as “extremely successful”. On May 6, the Houthis agreed to a ceasefire with the United States, and fighters have not launched any attacks on U.S. ships since then, but have targeted ships of other nations.

Senior leader of ISIS killed in Iraq

On March 13, US Central Command killed ISIS’ number two leader Abdullah Makki Muslih al-Rifai and another ISIS operative in an airstrike in Iraq’s Al Anbar province.

Midnight Hammer targets Iran’s nuclear capabilities

The US military launched an attack on three Iranian nuclear facilities between June 21 and 22, under Trump’s instructions.

During the operation, dubbed “Midnight Tow,” B-2 stealth bombers departed Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri and dropped a dozen bunker-busting bombs and launched more than two dozen Tomahawk missiles at key Iranian nuclear facilities.

According to the Pentagon, the attacks destroyed Iran’s nuclear capabilities and led to a ceasefire between Iran and Israel. However, the operation was highly controversial; Some Democratic lawmakers accused Trump of escalating tensions and downplaying the effectiveness of the attacks.

Iran launched an attack against the US Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, but there were no casualties.

Cartel drug boat attacks in the Caribbean and Eastern Pacific

As part of what the War Department called “Operation Southern Lance,” the United States launched 33 attacks on drug ships traveling in the Caribbean and Eastern Pacific. More than 100 traders were killed.

The strikes sparked significant criticism, with some Democrats accusing Secretary of War Pete Hegseth of war crimes. The Pentagon described the operation as a counter-narco-terrorism campaign against terrorist organizations “conducted to defend vital U.S. national interests and protect the homeland.”

Operation Hawk Eye in Syria

The United States launched Operation Hawkeye on December 19 in response to the killing of two US soldiers in Syria. U.S. and allied forces used more than 100 precision munitions targeting more than 70 known ISIS infrastructure and weapons sites in central Syria, resulting in 23 terrorists killed or detained.

Hegseth called the airstrikes a “declaration of revenge” in direct response to the ISIS attack in Palmyra, Syria, on December 13.

According to Central Command, U.S. and partner forces operations in Syria have resulted in the detention of more than 300 terrorists in the past 12 months.

Christmas night strike in Nigeria

On Christmas night, the United States, in coordination with the Nigerian government, launched an attack on ISIS-affiliated military forces in Sokoto State in northwestern Nigeria.

Trump said he ordered US airstrikes against ISIS militants in northwestern Nigeria and that ISIS militants were “targeting and brutally killing, primarily innocent Christians, at levels not seen in many years.”
