Melbourne driver has drink after smashing into a Cranbourne West home then flees

It was claimed that the driver who crashed his car into a house in Melbourne broke open a can immediately after the incident and then tried to escape by carrying vodka cans.
Police believe he lost control of his blue Holden station wagon on Breamlea Road in Cranbourne West shortly before 11.30pm on Thursday and collided with a parked vehicle, pushing it into the support of a garage and house.
Three people who were in the house at the time of the accident escaped uninjured.
Police claimed that the driver tried to flee the scene but was stopped by citizens until police arrived.
Neighbor Ebony Hall told Nine News residents ran out after the crash and saw the driver get out of the car.
“(He) stumbled around, turned around, grabbed his cans, and then tried to fly towards the corner where everyone jumped on him and pinned him down,” he said.
Another neighbor, Dylan Visscher, told Nine the driver was still drinking and had blood coming out of his mouth.
Mr Visscher told the Herald Sun that after the crash the driver “walked towards the caravan, smashed a can and had another drink” and then tried to escape.

“He still wanted to drink, he still wanted to smoke, but he didn’t stop,” Mr. Visscher said.
“There were probably three boxes trashed in the driveway.”
A police spokesman said the driver, a 27-year-old from Cranbourne, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and they were investigating whether alcohol was a factor in the crash.
“The garage and house both sustained significant damage,” a spokesman said.
“The investigation into the collision continues”
Anyone who witnessed the incident, has CCTV, dashcam footage or any other information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
