Gladstone house fire victims were at sleepover

Investigations are continuing into a horrific house fire that claimed the lives of a mother and her two children in central Queensland.

Jordana Johnson and her son Jordan Norris and his friend Chazz Mather are believed to be victims of the Gladstone fire.

Neighbors told Nine News they heard two explosions from inside the house on Whiting Street just before 6am on Wednesday, followed by a woman screaming for help.

The noises were so loud that one neighbor said he thought it was an airplane engine.

A second Gladstone home was set up as a crime scene Wednesday night, and police stood guard outside the home.

The police have not yet determined whether the fire was arson or an accident.

It took the teams five hours to extinguish the flames, which were so intense that they caused the top floor of the two-storey house to collapse.

The house is reported to be social housing and Detective Acting Inspector Luke Peachey said yesterday it appeared to be a place “where people come and go”.
