Historic redesign of US passport featuring imposing image of Donald Trump revealed

President Donald Trump unveiled a redesigned commemorative US passport featuring a striking portrait of himself as part of the country’s celebrations of the 250th anniversary of America’s independence.
A limited number of documents will be available from the Washington Passport Office until stocks run out.
A stern-faced image of Trump is placed next to the text of the Declaration of Independence on the inside cover, making him the first US president to appear in an American passport.
Trump unveiled the updated design in a post on his Truth Social account on Friday, sharing an image of the passport and declaring: “The New Passport of the United States Will Have It Written with the Signs “Welcome, but Be Well!”
The White House simultaneously released the same artwork, branding it as ‘Patriot Passport’.
The revised design differs from an earlier concept announced by the State Department in April, featuring a more imposing portrait of Trump with fists bent and an intense expression at the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office.
The photograph is based on an official portrait taken by White House photographer Daniel Torok that hangs in the Smithsonian’s ‘America’s Presidents’ exhibition.
The design also adds several patriotic elements, such as Trump’s black signature, gold ‘250’ branding and a more vibrant American flag background.

Americans who want a standard U.S. passport can still apply online, by mail, or through passport agencies and U.S. embassies and consulates.
While there is the text of the Declaration of Independence behind Trump’s portrait, there is Trump’s signature next to the text ‘United States of America’ at the bottom of the photo.
Opposite the portrait is artwork depicting the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776, based on John Trumbull’s famous painting.
The page is covered in waving American flags and bears the words ‘United States of America 250’ in red and gold.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the back cover of the commemorative passport also includes the gold ‘Freedom 250’ emblem.
A State Department spokesman said the agency was ‘proud’ to launch a passport that ‘boldly honors our nation’s founding and our President’.
The commemorative certificate can only be obtained by making an in-person appointment at the Washington Passport Office starting July 6 and while supplies last, officials said.
Americans who want a standard passport can apply normally online, by mail, or through passport agencies and U.S. embassies and consulates.
The passport is the latest example of Trump putting his personal stamp on federal agencies and Washington landmarks during his second term.

The Treasury Department first shared this design last October for the $1 Trump Coin, which features President Donald Trump posing after surviving an assassination attempt.
While banners featuring the president have been hung in front of many government buildings in recent months, the Treasury Department announced that Trump’s signature will appear on the one-dollar bill.
His administration has also advanced plans to oversee the construction of a commemorative coin bearing Trump’s likeness, ‘Trump accounts’ for children and a new $600 million White House ballroom.
Trump also attempted to add his name to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, but the court later ordered that center removed.
