Hit-And-Run Driver Knocks Down Man, Takes Him To Hospital, Drives Away

hyderabad:A 48-year-old security guard, who was walking to get gas at KPHB on Thursday morning, died after being hit by an unidentified vehicle. Police identified the victim as Manda Venkanna, a resident of KPHB Colony Phase Four.

Police said the driver stopped briefly, used Venkanna’s phone to call his family, admitted him to the hospital and fled. Venkanna succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Kukatpally. Following a complaint by his relative Asireddy Rakesh, the police registered a case.

“We are trying to trace the vehicle, which has no registration plate,” said KKPH sub-inspector V. Mounika Reddy.

Siberabad Teams caught 83 people in trap operations

hyderabad: Cyberabad anti-human trafficking unit (AHTU) said it rescued six victims from commercial sex trafficking and arrested three persons under the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act. Cyberabad SHE Teams said they carried out 140 trapping operations and caught 83 people committing indecent acts in public places. Petty lawsuits were filed in 71 cases, while counseling was provided in the others. The teams also received 15 complaints from women through various channels.

Hospital worker stabbed after trying to stop group from drinking

Hyderabad:A hospital worker was stabbed in Vanasthalipuram on Thursday night and his colleague who came to his aid was also attacked for objecting to a group consuming alcohol near the hospital. Police identified the victim as Gali Vidyasagar and his assistant Venugopal.

The incident took place at Sagar junction of Yashodanagar Colony around 8.30 pm. A group of five men—Erigi Rithesh, Anagoni Manishanker, Palle Praveen, Abhi and Ram—were drinking when Vidyasagar objected. According to investigating officer V. Ravi, Rithesh allegedly stabbed Vidyasagar in the stomach with a knife and attacked Venugopal.

Vidyasagar was admitted to the hospital. Vanasthalipuram police have arrested Rithesh and Manishanker and search is on for the other three.

Man struggling with alcohol addiction died by suicide

hyderabad: A 31-year-old driver died in an alleged suicide at his home on Pipeline Road, Petbasheerabad police said on Friday morning. The late Padala Sivakumar was home alone when his family went out to sell vegetables around 7 am. When they returned around 11:00, they found him dead in his room.

The family, originally from Narsapur in Andhra Pradesh, has been residing in the area for about 38 years, police said. Sivakumar’s father, Padala Suryanarayana, said in his complaint, “My son had been struggling with alcohol addiction for the last few days and was drinking alone at home. This worried him and may have caused him to take this step.” The deceased is survived by his parents and an older brother.

Serial attack on mentally disabled young people at a young age

Hyderabad:Ibrahimpatnam sub-inspector Nagaraju said that a 21-year-old mentally challenged youth was allegedly assaulted by a minor in Venkateshwara Colony on Thursday afternoon. The victim was injured in the head as a result of the little boy attacking the young people with a stick. The person was taken to hospital and later discharged.

The victim’s mother lodged a complaint with the Ibrahimpatnam police, claiming that this was the third or fourth time the minor boy had beaten the victim. In this regard, the police registered a case against the minor. While he was initially on the run, he was later tracked down, counseled, and served notice because the sentence for the crime was less than seven years. The child’s parents also held consultations. “The minor often did this to harass the victim because he was mentally disabled,” SI said.

Telugu University student dies by suicide

hyderabad: A 20-year-old student of Suravaram Prathapareddy Telugu University died by suicide in his hostel room on Thursday evening. Bachupally police said 20-year-old Parashuramulu, a third-year Bachelor of Design student, was residing on the fourth floor of the college’s hostel campus along with two others. He was a native of Gadwal.

Parashuramulu’s roommates had gone home for a day. When they returned on Thursday, they found that the deceased did not respond despite knocking on the door of the room several times.

Students broke the door with the help of students from nearby rooms and found Parashuramulu dead. The police immediately reached the scene and took the child’s body to Gandhi morgue for autopsy.

Based on preliminary information, the police suspect that the cause of the suicide was heartbreak. A police official said, “He became unhappy when he saw a photo of a female student he liked with another man. He was disturbed by this and may have taken an extreme step.” There was no suicide note, but police said they found diary entries.

Student unions staged a protest at the university on Friday, alleging that the university was trying to hide the suicide.
