Speaking to the Daily Mail at the opening press conference, Demi said she was ‘so honored to be here’.
‘It’s such a beautiful experience and just being surrounded by cinema and the love of cinema, the joy of being immersed in it and being surrounded by those who share it, I just – I felt like a joy.’
‘So who can complain about the beautiful views of this incredible place? But yeah, I’m incredibly honored and very excited. I really – I feel like a little kid playing an adult.’
‘You know, I’ve only been to the Cannes Film Festival once before and that was just an added bonus. And I feel truly honored to be sitting here today.’

Festival organizers announced in March that Jackson would be honored with the award, which they praised as “a body of work that blends Hollywood blockbusters and auteur films with extraordinary artistic vision and technological prowess.”
The Lord of the Rings director described the honor as ‘one of the greatest privileges of my career’ in a statement.
Jackson recalled that he came to Cannes in 1988 to sell his first film, Bad Taste. He returned in 2002 to preview The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.
‘This festival has always celebrated bold and forward-thinking cinema, and I’m incredibly grateful to the Festival de Cannes for its recognition among filmmakers and artists whose work continues to inspire me,’ he said.
Last year, Cannes gave honorary Palme d’Or awards to Robert De Niro and Denzel Washington.
This year’s event will run for eleven days, from May 12 to May 23.
