Horror as girl, 13, ‘gang-raped by three men’ in bushes and abandoned house | World | News

A 13-year-old girl was allegedly gang raped by three men in an abandoned house. Three people were arrested and if convicted they could face up to 20 years in prison and flogging.
Following the alleged incident on May 27, 18, 24 and 23-year-olds were charged and appeared before the Sessions Court in Malaysia.
According to Malaysia’s New Straits Times newspaper, the 18-year-old girl, Manek Urai, is accused of raping the girl on the roadside in Kampung Ragu.
The other two defendants are accused of raping her between 1am and 1.30am the next day in an abandoned house in Kampung Sunga Tias.
The case will appear in court again on July 12.
This comes after a gang rapist involved in an unrelated incident was released from a Malaysian court on “good behavior bail”.
The unidentified boy was convicted in 2021, and a court in Kedah, Malaysia, sentenced him to a conduct bond instead of community service. Prosecutors objected, arguing that the child should be sentenced to a “heavy prison sentence”, but this objection was rejected.
The boy was charged with two others following the attack at a hotel in Alor Setar, the capital of Kedah state, on September 17, 2021.
The other two defendants were also found guilty and sentenced to 13 years in prison.
Crime in Malaysia is reported to increase by 11.1% in 2024, largely driven by assaults and property crimes.
Reported rape cases increased 12.1% to 1,899, while robberies decreased 6.8%.
