Horror fire rips through multiple vehicles in Trafford Centre car park | UK | News

Three cars were destroyed in a fire that broke out in a crowded shopping mall parking lot on Saturday evening. Firefighters rushed to Manchester’s Trafford Center at around 6.45pm, where they found the fire had spread from one parked car to two cars on either side of it.

Footage from the scene showed orange flames leaping from engines near a Christmas tree display, smoke billowing across the car park and shoppers shocked. An eyewitness reported that the car park was ‘locked down’ when both fire crews and paramedics arrived. The fire service confirmed that two fire trucks arrived at the scene and extinguished the flames.

No one was injured. A spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) confirmed all three engines were petrol-powered vehicles.

The source of the initial fire is unknown but is not considered suspicious or intentional. Manchester Evening News reports.

A GMFRS spokesman said: “Shortly after 6.45pm this evening (Saturday 8 November), two fire brigades were called from Sale and Salford fire stations to respond to a fire involving three vehicles in a car park at Trafford Centre.

“Crews quickly arrived on scene and used breathing apparatus and two hose reels to extinguish the fire. Fire crews continue to respond.”
