Trump’s peace plan fails? Netanyahu accuses Hamas of violations, orders ‘powerful’ strikes on Gaza

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered an immediate “strong” attack on the Gaza Strip after accusing Hamas of violating the ceasefire. The order came following rising tensions after Israel claimed it had opened fire on forces of Hamas, the militant group that currently controls Gaza, in the southern parts of the Palestinian territory. It was previously reported that fire was opened on Israeli troops in Rafah and the fire was then returned.
Shortly after Israel’s order, Hamas announced that it would postpone the delivery of the body of another hostage, previously scheduled for Tuesday evening. The armed group said in a statement: “Due to the violations of the occupation, we will postpone the handover process planned for today.” he said. He added that any escalation by Israel would hinder the search, excavation and recovery of the bodies. Hamas has so far returned more than half of the hostages agreed upon within the scope of the ceasefire agreement that came into force on October 10.
