Hrithik Roshan Lauds Aditya Dhar’s ‘Dhurandhar’ but Disagrees With Its ‘Politics’

New Delhi: Actor Hrithik Roshan praised Aditya Dhar’s latest spy action thriller “Dhurandhar” and said that the film’s passion for cinema left a strong impression on him even though he did not agree with the politics it presented. Released on December 5, this high-octane spy thriller is directed and written by Aditya Dhar. The film, starring Ranveer Singh, is about secret intelligence operations set against the backdrop of geopolitical events.

Roshan shared a detailed note on Wednesday, calling ‘Dhurandhar’ an example of gripping storytelling.

I love cinema, I love people climbing into a vortex and letting the story take over, spinning them around, shaking them until what they want to say gets delivered to the screen. ‘Dhurandhar’ is an example of this. I loved the storytelling. This is cinema,” she wrote on Instagram Stories.

The actor added that although it differed from the film’s political stance, he had to appreciate the film’s craftsmanship.

I may disagree with the politics of it and argue about the responsibilities we filmmakers have to bear as citizens of the world. However, as a film student, I can’t ignore how much I loved it and learned from it. “Surprising,” Roshan said.

“Dhurandhar”, which also stars Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi, has had a strong performance at the box office since its release on December 5. The film also sparked significant controversy online; Many reviews, including discussions around its themes and politics, have described the film as anti-Pakistan and propagandist.

On Thursday morning, Roshan posted another note saying that the film remains his.

I still can’t get Dhurandhar out of my mind. “@adityadharfilms, you are an incredible producer,” he posted, while also praising the cast.

He highlighted @ranveersingh’s performances, saying what a consistent journey it is from quiet to fierce. #AkshayeKhanna has always been my favorite and this movie is proof of that. @actormaddy fucking crazy grace, strength and dignity!! But dude @rakeshbedi what you did was amazing.. such good acting, amazing!! he wrote.

The makers announced through a post-credit scene that the second part of “Dhurandhar” will hit the theaters on March 19, 2026, and Roshan said that he is looking forward to it.

“”A big round of applause to everyone, especially the make-up and prosthetics department! Can’t wait for part 2!!!” Hrithik concluded.
