Huge fire started in Merseyside as angry protest against council | UK | News

A huge bonfire was lit on Wednesday evening in an angry protest against the local council. Spectators flocked to the roaring inferno that lit up the night skies of Ilchester Park and Birkenhead, Merseyside for miles. The massive fire, which broke out two weeks before Bonfire Night, followed social media posts claiming authorities had banned the events this year.
But Bidston and St James councilor Liz Gray dismissed the claims as “misinformation”.
He said: “The council really wanted to support local people to ensure this was done safely. Council officers worked really hard to ensure this could go ahead without harming anyone. “The council had no intention of stopping this.
“There is a misunderstanding or misinformation that says the council wants to stop this.”
He emphasized that the council’s primary concern was to ensure no one was injured. He believes the community deserves to have a bonfire and hopes they can hold an event on Bonfire Night, given that many people will have missed it tonight. Liverpool Echo.

Meanwhile, another bonfire has been lit at Woodchurch Manor on the Wirral. The event attracted a huge crowd and the audience also came together to enjoy the show.
