Hunt continues for synagogue firebombing ‘masterminds’

17 July 2025 16:55 | News

The arrest of a defendant car thief was greeted to the police as a breakthrough in the midst of his pressure to determine the “brain ın of a synagogue fire.

In December, a 20 -year -old man was accused of the stolen of a car connected to a few high -profile events, including the “political motivated” arson of Melbourne’s Israeli Synagogue.

The detectives arrested the man in Williamstown on Wednesday before he ordered a call in a house in South, where they seized more than one item.

The man was accused of motor vehicle theft, with his failure to access the applications on his phone.

Victoria’s acting, leading Jaclyn Symes, suggested that he could lead to more arrests.

“This shows that such a breakthrough and arrest, showing that the investigation is at a critical point,” he said to journalists on Thursday.

“You are assumed to have others relevant and you have the ability to learn more after being arrested.”

Nobody was accused of conducting the fire bomb, and the defendant car thief is the first person accused of any offense.

Ms. Symes would not benefit whether a common anti -terrorist task force would be drowned by criminals using encrypted messaging practices of the efforts to reveal who ordered the attack.

Australian Jewish President Daniel Aghion KC said the ability of the police to find the “brain at the end of the chain at the end of the chain at the end of the chain.

“Obviously there is more and of course the police are doing their best, but we cannot reach the people who plan these attacks and we do not regulate their realization.”

“We have no possibility to stop them or give justice for the victims until they find those who run these violent crimes.”

The police claim that he gave strict conditional bail in front of a court hearing in early October, and on November 29, 2024, the blue 2020 VW Golf Sedan stole.

The stolen car was used in November for other crimes, including arson and shooting in Bundoora, the lux nightclub in South Yarra.

Police claim that it was used in the synagogue attack attack on 6 December.

Inspectors do not take into account the politically motivated attacks of Bundoora and South Yarra.

Two of the three buildings of the synagogue in Ripponlea in southeast of Melbourne shouted.

At that time there were two communities prepared for the morning prayers, one was slightly injured.

The photos of the police and CCTV images, faced by terrorism in May, showed a golf sedan, whose synagogue has repeatedly passed away before parking directly out of the main entrance.

Hoodies and three people wearing masks came out of the vehicle and used a ax to damage the entrance of the building.

The inspectors scanned more than 1400 positions through CCTV and believe that more than one criminal is directly and indirectly dependent on the event.

Detectives are investigating anti-Semitism in Melbourne, including an incident in the Israeli restaurant Miznon and arson attack on a Eastern Melbourne synagogue on July 5th.

A group of worshipers escaped when a man allegedly set fire to the building during weekly services.

The police then accused Sydney’s 34 -year -old Angelo Loras of the West of many crimes, including reckless behavior and fever, which endangered life.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the “understandable anti -Jewish attacks”, and the Federal government asked “to deal with all the actions to the end of the law to deal with rebellions”.
