Hyderabad Residents Protest Liquor Shops in Residential Areas

Hyderabad:With the new liquor licenses coming into force on Monday, residents of different places opposed the establishment of liquor stores in residential areas.

A licensee in Manikonda tried to open a liquor store on Pipeline Road and was met with protests from residents who opposed setting up a liquor store in a residential area. However, the shop owner’s statement that he had permission from the tax office was not taken into account.

Residents withdrew their protests after excise officials visited the venue and informed the license holder that they would examine location and will options.
