I came to know about my brother’s death only through Google search: Himachal Pradesh accident victim’s sister

“I learned about my brother’s death from his YouTube search history and news on Google,” said Jayanthashree G., sister of accident victim Karthigeyan PG, recalling the heartbreaking circumstances in which she learned about the tragedy.

Karthigeyan and his family were among the seven people who lost their lives in the accident that occurred on the night of May 29 when their taxi crashed into a 500-metre-deep gorge on the Bairgarh-Sach-Pass-Killar Road in Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba District. Karthigeyan and Arvind Chandrakar’s family traveled from Bengaluru to Delhi, Mathura and Himachal Pradesh on May 19.

While Karthigeyan and his family are natives of Tiruppur in Tamil Nadu, Arvind and his family are from Chhattisgarh. Karthigeyan ran a food catering business and supplied food to several private schools in Kadugodi in Bengaluru, and his wife Manimala was a Maths teacher at KSVK school in Channasandra. Their son, Nandan, is studying at Chrysalis High School in Kadugodi as Class VII. was in class. Arvind was working in a multinational company in Bengaluru and was accompanied by his wife Prachi and his two sons Darsh and Akshad, who were studying in the same school.

Taekwondo competition ended in tragedy

Both families went to Dalhousie in Himachal while their children participated in the National Taekwondo Competition to represent their school.

Ms. Jayanthashree said, “My brother, his wife Manimala and son Nandan went to Delhi on May 19. They visited various places like Taj Mahal, Qutb Minar etc and then went to Mathura. Both the families traveled together while their children participated in the National Taekwondo Competition held in Dalhousie, Himachal Pradesh. The competition was held on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and they planned to go for a walk on the weekend. Sach in Chamba district To the Pass.”

Google search revealed tragedy

He added, “The last time I spoke to my brother was on Friday morning and he had just said that he was planning to go for a walk with his family. He was not sure where exactly they wanted to go. Later, when I did not receive any call from them for more than a day, I logged into my brother’s YouTube account and search history. The search history showed Sach Pass in Chamba district. That’s how I realized that they were on their way here for a walk. I suspected something was wrong during the communication. The number was not reachable. At that time, I randomly heard about the sach pass incident in Chamba district.” At first, it was a shock for me to learn that the names of those who died in the accident were not included, and then I came across the names of those who died in the accident, and one of them was my brother’s family.

Ms. Jayanthashree stated that it was difficult for them to communicate with officials from Himachal Pradesh.

“Even the local authorities did not know that there was an accident. It only happened when the owner of the car rental company checked the location of the taxi driver. The GPS showed that the car was stranded somewhere for a long time. Through a relative, we reached a bureaucrat working in Delhi and he connected us to the local authorities in Himachal Pradesh. My husband, uncle and cousin brother have gone to Himachal Pradesh and the bodies will be brought from there. Amritsar-Delhi and Coimbatore will go to Tiruppur tonight or tomorrow morning.
