‘I don’t like you either’: Watch Trump’s awkward exchange with Kevin Rudd
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and US President Donald Trump appeared to get on well when they finally met in person, but there was a rather awkward moment when the president was asked about past remarks by Australia’s ambassador to the US, Kevin Rudd, in which he labeled Trump a “village idiot”.
“There are some concerns in Australia, it took nine months to have this meeting. Have you had any concerns with this administration? About Palestine, its stance on climate change, or even what the Australian ambassador has said about you in the past?” a reporter asked.
EMBERS: “I don’t know anything about him. If he said something bad, maybe he wants to apologize? Did an ambassador say something bad about me? Don’t tell me. I don’t want to know.”
“Where is he? Does he still work for you?”
Albanian he gestured across the table to Rudd; Rudd said his comments, in which he also called Trump a “traitor to the West”, came before he took up his current position as Australia’s ambassador to the US.
EMBERS: “I don’t love you either and I probably never will.”

EMBERS: “It’s great to have the prime minister of Australia. It’s a great place, I’ve got a lot of friends there and this is one of them.”
