‘I saw it clear as day’: ‘Hairy’ Bigfoot with ‘human-like face’ sighted in Texas

A driver in Texas claims to have spotted an eight-foot-tall creature with a “human-like” face and hairy mane lurking on the side of the highway.

Dustin Dean explained that while driving between the towns of Big Sandy and Wilkins in East Texas in the early hours of June 12, the car’s headlights illuminated a giant, hairy beast emerging from the woods and apparently preparing to cross the road.

He reported his sighting to the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization (BFRO) and explained: “I was driving on Highway 80 in East Texas between Big Sandy and Wilkins.

“It is a place where 80 turns into a two-lane road with dense trees on both sides. It was 01.20 on Friday, June 12, 2026. It was emerging from the forest area on the east side as if it was going to cross the road.

“My bright lights were on and I could see the surroundings clear as day. When he saw my headlamp, he turned to me and turned towards the forest. His face [was] “He was still looking at me as I took a step towards the forest.”

He added of the beast: “Its hair had a brownish-red appearance and its face was not what you see in the pictures. It had an ape-like nose but its mouth was more human-like than a monkey or chimpanzee.”

“His eyes didn’t shine, but they reflected light enough to look hazy. I looked at his face so hard I can still see him.”

“His face was long, not round. I thought he would have more hair on his face, but he had more skin than hair. He had more mane-like hair around his face.

“He was 7-8 ft tall and about 3-4 ft wide at the chest. When I passed him, he had already disappeared into the dark forest.”

Dean was traveling with his wife at the time of the sighting, but he told investigators that his wife did not see the creature because she was looking at her phone and told him not to reverse the car for a second look.

BFRO Investigator Matthew Moneymaker wrote: “I spoke with Dustin at length on the phone. He is a credible witness. Marshall lives in Texas and worked in the gas and oil industry in East Texas for more than 20 years after serving in the U.S. Marine Corps.

“His wife was in the car with him. She didn’t see her husband because he was looking at his phone when they passed him.

“When her husband slowed down dramatically after Dustin passed him, he told his wife what he saw. He wondered if he should turn around and go back to the scene. She said no and insisted they continue home.”

Matthew continued, noting that the area where Dean spotted the monster was known for sasquatch sightings: “Dustin had no idea that this sighting had four (4) high probability factors that intersect in the same location: 1) Dense forests in East Texas, 2) Railroad bed, 3) Power line route, 4) Sabine River feeder stream (Little White Oak Creek).

He insisted that anyone living in counties near the Sabine River should have a “good dash cam” to record possible sightings, adding: “If Dustin had had a working dash cam that night, he would have some compelling video footage now.”
