I visited Dumfries House at Christmas and was left speechless | Royal | News

Christmas has come to Dumfries House; Glittering decorations, more than a dozen Christmas trees, and festive wreaths strung throughout the 18th-century mansion transform it into a magical winter wonderland. Visitors will be able to see the decorations at Christmas events, including candlelight tours, festive banquets and banquets – and I got a preview this week.

A large Christmas tree awaits visitors in the hallway, and there are two traditional nutcrackers on either side of the tree. This created a large and welcoming feel and the two figures appear to be guarding the impressive tree. There are 14 more trees throughout the rest of the house, including large wreaths hung in the library and real candles lit in the gorgeous pink Murano glass chandelier in the Pink Drawing Room.

I was blown away by the impressive attention to detail and the warm, cozy feeling sparked by the traditional decoration. The whole effect was truly stunning, and although I have visited many royal homes over the years, none were quite as festive as this one.
