ICAC to probe alleged illegal political donations in NSW Liberals

The NSW anti-corruption watchdog has announced eight weeks of public hearings into allegations that Liberal Party figures in the state solicited and concealed banned political donations.

The NSW Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) alleges several high-profile party members colluded with property developer Jean Nassif to unseat politicians unfavorable to their business interests.

The scheme allegedly involved payments significantly in excess of those from the NSW Electoral Commission donation limit and financing from property developers. Property developers have been banned from making political donations in NSW.
