Illinois man arrested for murder of ex-wife, Ohio dentist

The ex-husband of a woman who was found shot to death along with her new husband, an Ohio dentist, on Dec. 30 has been charged with murder in the deaths.
Michael David McKee of Chicago faces two counts of murder, according to Franklin County Municipal Court documents. Columbus DispatchPart of the USA TODAY Network.
A warrant was issued for McKee’s arrest on Jan. 10, according to online court records. McKee was booked into jail in Winnebago County, Illinois, shortly before noon local time. He will remain there until authorities extradite him to Franklin County.
It’s unclear whether McKee has an attorney who could comment on his behalf.
Monique Tepe, 39, and Spencer Tepe, 37, died on December 30. He was found shot inside his home In the Weinland Park neighborhood. The couple’s two young children, both under the age of 5, were found physically unharmed in the home.

Columbus homicide detectives identified McKee through video surveillance in the neighborhood, police allege in court documents. They followed the suspect “to a vehicle that arrived just before the murders and left shortly after.” They located the vehicle in Rockford, Illinois, and found evidence that McKee owned the vehicle before and after the murders.
Columbus police have not publicly released a potential cause in the couple’s deaths.
At around 9 a.m. on December 30, Co-workers at the dental office where Spencer works in Athens When Spencer didn’t show up for work and no one could reach Spencer or Monique by phone, she called Columbus police.
According to body camera footage released by Columbus police, an officer went to a home on Summit Street instead of the home on the Hill to conduct a welfare check. Approximately 40 minutes after this check, Tepeş’s friends found them dead in their home.

“They were extraordinary people whose lives were filled with love, joy and deep connections with others,” the Tepe family said in a Jan. 2 statement to USA TODAY.
