India Nudges Saudi on Pak Defence Pact

New Delhi: After making a mutual defense agreement with India, Pakistan reminded Saudi Arabia about his deepening ties to Riyadh on Friday and called on his relationship with his new Delhi to keep in mind the “mutual interests and sensitivities .. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated that there is no scope for third-party mediation in India-Pakistan ties.
MEA spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said in a weekly briefing, “India and Saudi Arabia have a significant deepening strategic partnership in recent years. We expect our strategic partnership to keep in mind the mutual interests and sensitivity.”
The new Delhi had previously stated that the agreement had established a long -standing arrangement between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, but he said he would examine India’s impact on national security. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Pm Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir signed in the presence of Asim Munir, the Pact predicts that an attack on someone will be accepted as an attack on both.
The observers warn that PACT could bring up disturbing questions for India, but in recent years, Riyadh has positioned itself as a close partner of the New Delhi, chaired the Strategic Partnership Council and expanded its cooperation, including defense. Saudi Arabia also played a role in reducing tensions between India and Pakistan after the Pulwama attack in 2019 and during the Sindoor operation in May this year.
While the Saudi-Pakistan ties were historically close, they briefly sour in 2015, when Pakistan refused to send troops to Yemen. Since then, Saudi Arabia has significantly strengthened ties with India, even if Pakistan tried to repair relations with Riyadh.
