Indonesian Consul General Explores Trade Ties With AP

: Eddy Wardoyo, Consul General of Indonesia in Mumbai, held talks with the Federation of AP Chambers of Commerce and Industry here on Friday on trade and investment ties between AP and his country.

Wardoyo said AP has strong capabilities in agriculture, food processing and manufacturing, and noted the facilitation measures and advantages Indonesia offers to exporters from the province.

Both sides noted significant potential to expand bilateral trade, with secondary and tertiary food processing identified as an important area of ​​cooperation due to complementarities between the two regions.

The Consul General expressed his keen interest in working closely with the EP Chambers and identified priority sectors for cooperation, including agriculture, food processing, value-added aquaculture, palm oil, education and manufacturing.

He said the Indonesian government provides market intelligence to Indian exporters and facilitates business matching with Indonesian companies. He said Indonesia also offers attractive incentives in key sectors and operates Special Economic Zones with zero import and export taxes.

Briefing the media, AP chambers president Potluri Bhaskar Rao said, “It has been proposed to hold structured matching exercises between exporters and importers in Andhra Pradesh and Indonesia to accelerate trade flows.” he said.

He said the emergence of the possibility of local currency and rupee-based trade is seen as a positive development.

At the meeting, chamber officials agreed to identify approximately 20 relevant enterprises and organize a virtual interaction to promote exports and business collaborations in coordination with the Indonesian Consulate.
