Inside the black box of the NACC under Paul Brereton

Paul Brereton, the first commissioner of the National Anti-Corruption Commission, unexpectedly resigned this week, leaving the top of the country’s integrity watchdog in crisis. Brereton’s tenure was disastrous, and its consequences will continue to emerge for months.
Brereton is separating three years into a five-year period, building an organization with more than 200 employees and a budget of more than $60 million a year, but with no significant findings of corruption, a serious public trust deficit and a legacy of a slew of flawed Defense investigations.
