“Inspiring Part of Hanuman in Sundarakanda Is the Story of Vayuputra” – Chandoo Mondeti

After the Socio-Fantasy Karthikeya 2’s box office records, the new age filmmaker Chando Monget is now entering the world of animation with Vayuputra, the hymen mythological film Vayuputra, based on the grandeur of Lord Hanuman.
For the director, it’s not just a movie, it’s a long -standing childhood dream. In a special conversation with Deccan Chronicle, Chandoo opens about his vision, inspiration and even Bollywood plans.
You have announced an animated film Vayuputra. Is this kind of trailblazer?
Definitely. I am excited to step into the fascinating world of animation with Vayuputra. This was my childhood dream – to tell the story of Lord Hanuman through animation. I have always been inspired by Indian epics such as Mahabharata and Ramaya. Our story will focus on the magical moment in which Hanuman realizes his real potential, jumped to the ocean to search for the goddess Sita and has made extraordinary features. I believe that this fairy tale will not only be entertained, but also to inspire viewers of all ages. Personally, I like animation – let Marvel movies or a demon hunter – and watch them with my children. Now, I want to implement our mythology in the same live way.
Did the success of Mahavatar Narasimha (more than 300 Crore) encourage you to try an animated film?
Definitely. Mahavatar proved that the animation of the dedication has a large market and could connect with global audiences. He gave me confidence to try Vayuputra. Throughout this film, I want today’s generation to understand the greatness of our Hindu gods and Hanuman, which is especially invincible but deeply humble. These are qualities worth imitating. I am grateful to producer Nagavamsi for supporting this dream. After exhibiting the power of Lord Krishna in Karthikeya 2, it’s time to present Hanuman’s glory.
Why don’t you use a big star to anchor the project? Wouldn’t this be safer commercially?
To be honest, not being a star is a new freedom. Large stars often mean long waiting times for dates – sometimes one or two years – means. Until then, the scenario is replaced to fit the image of the star that can dilute the essence of the story. I don’t have these restrictions with animation. I can tell the story exactly as I imagined. Of course, technically challenging. My core team of five technicians will first form a film strip, and then a large VFX team of about 50-100 members will play it. However, this challenge is exciting because it provides a visually striking film.
You worked with Telugu stars such as Naga Chaitania and Nikhil. Now we hear that you’ve met with Bollywood actors like Vicky Kaushal and Kartic Aaryan?
Yes, I had great experiences with Telugu Talent. Now I have interviews with Vicky Kaushal and I have meetings with Kartik Aaryan. Both are busy next year, but I would like to cooperate when they are free. Bollywood was always a dream for me. For now, my focus is Vayuputra. I want this film to rise and put new criteria.
