Family pay tribute to ‘selfless hero’ who died trying to save two people from sea in Yorkshire

A man who died trying to save two people stranded at sea off the East Yorkshire coast has been called a “selfless hero” by his family.

Mark Ratcliffe, 67, was pulled from the sea on Friday after being found unconscious in the water. He was later confirmed dead.

At his memorial service, his family said Mr Ratcliffe was “a true selfless hero with a heart of gold who was brutally deceived while trying to save others”.
