Intent of infiltrators hasn’t changed since 1999 conflict, says Rajnath Singh in Dras

Dras: On the eve of the 27th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh here on Saturday said the “intent of infiltrators” has not changed since the 1999 conflict and asserted that the Indian Army is “fully prepared” for such challenges.

Addressing the Army personnel at the Shaurya Bhoj hosted in Dras, he said that the government is paying special attention to the modernization of the armed forces and the effort is to ensure that the army gets the latest equipment and the best training.

Singh arrived in Dras on Saturday evening to attend Shaurya Sandhya, an event held at the Kargil War Memorial here as part of a two-day program to mark the anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas.

Kargil Vijay Diwas commemorates the end of Operation Vijay on July 26, 1999. The operation was launched by the Army to take back Indian territory in the Kargil region captured by Pakistani troops.

“We must not forget that even today the challenges have not diminished, the intention of the infiltrators has not changed and even today they are adopting tools like proxy warfare or infiltration,” he said, in a veiled reference to Pakistan.

“I am fully confident that our army is fully prepared for such challenges,” Singh said.
This “is our century, the time to come is also ours”, the defense minister said, stressing on Aatmanirbharta, “I am confident that the Indian armed forces will be the best in the world.” In his speech, he also saluted the armed forces and the bravery of the soldiers.

“Today we are breathing free and living with our heads held high because our soldiers in Kargil did not let down their guard despite the falling mercury and decreasing oxygen levels,” Singh said. he said.

On this occasion, Singh said that his pride in Dras cannot be expressed in words.

He said he was confident that unless Indian soldiers had an invisible inner strength and a nationalist feeling, “no power in the world would dare to cast an evil eye on India”.

“Over the last few years, I have had the opportunity to see many traditions of the Army up close and one of the most heart-touching ones is Bada Khana,” the Minister said.

This is because this is the only incident where a jawan and an officer sit together and eat the same meal, showing a great sense of teamwork, he said.

“Your ability to rise above the limitations present in society is your true strength. And this strength alone enables us to win wars like the Kargil war,” Singh said.
