The Westminster Council, led by Labour, under fire after an angry planning war with a strange independent book store, seizing the executive officers, executive officers. Gilded Acorn, a small shop on a large pedestrian street, had two unobtrusive Bank and 14 books last week.
The 30 -year -old small shop saw that the council’s busy body has removed fixtures, fittings and activity infrastructure before leaving the non -refundable property. Glenn Smart, the director of the bookstore, said that the intervention in Express was “deeply sad”. Mr. Smart said: “Your quiet, community -minded shop is not a corporate chain. For more than thirty years, we have operated on stagnation, locks and continuous economic pressure.
“But nothing will prepare you for people who come out of your door and make your living without a meaningful explanation or dialogue attempt.
“Westminster, while talking about supporting culture and society, officers are still flying the flag for both. It is a really hard time for small businesses and especially bookstores.”
The incident led to anger among neighboring businesses and regular customers.
Until June 2024, criminal figures showed that Westminster had the highest level of police in London, and theft, including theft, drugs, weapons and public order crimes, the crime for 10 categories, including crimes.
The total crimes for the London district increased by 5.7% in the previous year and made the council’s actions against gilded ACorn bookstores a sharp focus.
Revelation comes the day when the local government secretary Angela Rayner plans to cut unnecessary waste by the councils.
On Thursday, at the Conference of the Local Government Association, Mrs. Reeves will announce a new reform package to force councils to focus on surrendering their priorities of residents.
Ms. Reeves warned that they were weighed by the “unnecessary bureaucracy ve for“ too long ”and that voters should focus on their needs.
“For a long time, the councils have been weighed with the unnecessary bureaucracy that makes it difficult to focus on the most important things – fulfilling the priorities of the local people.
“Through our change of change, we have already taken steps to correct the foundations of the local government, and now we are going further and we are starting to deal with the manager and document mountain that keeps the sector very often.
“Our reforms will mean less pens and more action in our streets and communities, and will develop local services in the coming years.”
The movement resembles the latest campaigns of Ape Reform with the Dogge program, directed by former president Zia Yusuf.
Westminster Municipal Assembly spokesman said: “Many businesses in this region use open space for tables and chairs, and everyone is expected to work fairly with the council and each other to protect net sidewalks.
“The Council does not want to confiscate the books, the last resort, but we had very few options after ignoring the council notifications and participation efforts over and over again.
“We are happy to work with Gilding Acorn right now.
