Islamabad explosion: Horror ‘suicide attack’ kills at least 12 as police swarm parking lot | World | News

A terrifying explosion occurred in front of the courthouse in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. 12 people died and 20 people were injured in the explosion that took place near the Islamabad District Court. It was reported that the police described the incident as a ‘suicide attack’.

A police spokesman said: “The area has been sealed off and evidence is being collected from the explosion site.” Police also said forensic experts were investigating the type and composition of explosives used in the attack. They added that they also found the head of the alleged suicide bomber, local news outlet Samaa TV reported.

While police and rescue teams arrived at the scene, rescue efforts continue. The injured were taken to PIMS (Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences) Hospital.

An eyewitness named Rustam Malik told AFP news agency: “When I parked my car and entered the complex… I heard a loud bang at the door.

“There was complete chaos, lawyers and people running around the complex. I saw two bodies at the gate and a lot of cars were burning.”

Security has now been tightened, especially in government buildings, judicial buildings and other high-security areas.
