Israeli strike on Gaza funeral killed at least seven people, hospital says | Gaza

At least seven people were killed and 22 others were injured in an Israeli attack on a funeral in the Gaza Strip, according to a local hospital.

There has been no statement from the Israeli army yet.

Al-Awda hospital in Nuseyrat refugee camp confirmed the death toll, saying the strike hit the body of a Palestinian killed in another Israeli strike earlier on Friday.

Israel and the Hamas militant group agreed in October on a ceasefire agreement aimed at stopping two years of war.

The heaviest fighting in Gaza has decreased since the ceasefire came into effect, but at least 1,123 people have been killed, according to the Health Ministry.

The ministry maintains detailed casualty records that are generally considered reliable by UN agencies and independent experts. An independent UN investigation found that Israel continues to commit genocide by deliberately targeting Palestinian children in Gaza.

Militants launched armed attacks on troops, and Israel said its attacks were in response to that and other violations. Five Israeli soldiers have been killed since the ceasefire.

The war began after the attack on southern Israel led by Hamas on October 7, 2023, in which approximately 1,200 people were killed and 251 people were taken hostage. More than 73,000 Palestinians have died in Israel’s offensive in Gaza, including those killed since the ceasefire, Gaza’s health ministry said.
