Lebron James Has a Sciatica Injury — Here’s What it Feels Like

LeBron James usually spends late October defying Father Time. Instead, he appears in tasteless Hennessy commercials and sits stiffly like a mannequin on the Lakers bench. King suffers from sciatica, a nerve condition that causes pain and numbness from your back to your leg. Mild but sometimes debilitating, this is an injury that anyone can experience. Especially if you’re older.
What matters is not so much what you feel as what you don’t feel. At least at first. The lower back muscles that make you glad you didn’t skip the day suddenly become quiet, and getting out of bed starts to feel like you’re trying to get out of quicksand. But you can do it. You think you’re sleeping strangely. Or maybe the deadlift sets two days ago took their toll. You are not 26 years old anymore. Hell, you’re not even 36 years old. But that’s okay. The cold kitchen hardwood under your feet turns into a peculiar micro joy. Compared to the lack of feeling in your back, this is a 5-Hour Energy drink for your legs. Morning fatigue begins to decrease. then you get it HE The step and sensation return to your lower back. This is not a good thing.

Gradually, the loss of sensation turns into pain that extends from your waist down to one leg. You take a Tylenol PM and think you can sleep. You now begin the arduous walk towards your bedroom. While hardwood used to be therapeutic, it now feels like hot coals under your feet. The journey to your bed starts to seem the most boring Fear Factor episode so far. You want to go faster, but this only intensifies the pain, so you’re stuck in a state of limbo residence at the top of your ladder. But you succeed. Now let gravity do the work. Tylenol will kick in any minute. Just fall into bed. You do. But then – surprise – the pain is equal worse. The pain will subside, but years of neglect let you know it’s time to go to the doctor. You do. And you learn it’s time to sit down.
Just like LeBron.
