His father, 38-year-old Anwar Satibi, said that his son had previously been subjected to domestic violence by the woman in 2025.
He told reporters that he had previously filed a complaint with the police over allegations of harassment against his wife, but the case was mediated after his wife apologized and promised to change her attitude.
Anwar said the report was never officially retracted.
He claimed that Nizam’s stepmother was beaten while arguing with her adopted sons, while her other two children were not punished.
Anwar said he was at work the night before his son’s death when his wife called to say their son had a fever.
When he returned home, he was shocked to see Nizam’s body covered in blisters and burns, even though he was in good condition when he left that morning.
According to Anwar, his wife claimed that the blisters appeared naturally when the child had a fever.
Nizam was taken to hospital in the early hours of February 19, where doctors determined that the shape and severity of the burns indicated abuse.
An autopsy is currently being performed to determine the exact cause of death.
Sukabumi Police Criminal Investigation Unit chief AKP Hartono confirmed that the investigation is ongoing while officers await forensic results.
