Italian tourist dies in Bayahibe fire

Italian news agency Ansa reported that Italy’s ambassador to the Dominican Republic met the dead woman’s husband at the hospital. The embassy is assisting approximately 285 Italian tourists staying in or near the resort, issuing emergency passports and arranging flights home for those whose travel documents were destroyed in the fire.
