Jake Paul: American loses WBA cruiserweight ranking after Anthony Joshua loss

Jake Paul withdrew from the WBA welterweight rankings after losing his welterweight bout against Anthony Joshua last month.

Paul entered the rankings at No. 14 in July after defeating former world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

The YouTuber, a former boxer, dropped to No. 15, missing out on a spot following the WBA’s Dec. 31 update.

Paul, 28, spent much of the fight dodging Joshua and was knocked down twice in the fifth round before tiring and eventually being stopped in the sixth round.

After he suffered a broken jaw in the second defeat of his career, he had two titanium plates fitted and some of his teeth removed.

Bosnian Edin Puhalo, who recorded the 27th victory of his career in December, ranked 15th.

Paul’s inclusion in last year’s rankings irritated many traditionalists in the sport who felt he had surpassed some of the more established competitors.
