Andrew leaked secrets and met Chinese model at secret dinner as Epstein boasted ‘I’ve got the UK sewn up’: Damning dossier means there MUST be a probe

Police chiefs and ministers last night faced demands for a full investigation into Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s role as UK trade envoy after a series of damning revelations by The Mail on Sunday.

A dossier of evidence compiled by this newspaper reveals Andrew exploited his taxpayer-funded position to an extraordinary extent at the behest of Jeffrey Epstein to advance the pedophile’s business interests.

The vast Epstein Files also include emails revealing how Andrew allowed the convicted sex offender to arrange meetings for him during an official trade mission to China.

New photos hidden in documents show Andrew socializing with a glamorous Chinese model at a secret dinner in Beijing during a ten-day official trip while he was supposed to represent the UK.

Before the dinner in 2010, Andrew’s advisor, businessman David Stern, described the woman in offensive terms, according to an email.

As pressure mounts on the police and Government to investigate the former Duke of York, our investigation reveals:

  • Andrew leaked sensitive information about the Royal Bank of Scotland following the £45bn taxpayer-funded bailout;
  • A senior palace aide leaked an official diplomatic cable regarding UK-China trade relations to a banker who was Andrew’s friend and business partner;
  • Epstein boasted of receiving intelligence from Andrew, former Cabinet Minister Lord Mandelson and a mysterious “third man”, saying: “I turned the UK upside down”;
  • Following Andrew’s trade mission in 2010, Mr Stern conspired with Epstein to make ‘secret’ deals with the Chinese government.

The bombshell findings put pressure on the Government to release documents from Andrew’s time as trade envoy and sparked fresh calls for the police to investigate whether Andrew abused his position in public office by allowing Epstein access to confidential information. Thames Valley Police are already assessing allegations that Andrew shared such material with Epstein but have not yet launched a criminal investigation.

Former Business Secretary Vince Cable told the MoS: ‘Of course there should be an investigation; This is shameful behavior. The real issue is whether this is a police matter and that is up to them and the prosecutor’s office to decide. But this is undoubtedly very, very bad behaviour.’

Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp said: ‘Andrew has sold our country down the river at every opportunity. It’s time for spineless Keir Starmer to do something and investigate the full extent of the damage he is doing to Britain’s security.’

A Labor aide said: ‘Andrew’s behavior as trade ambassador is a complete betrayal. He dragged Britain’s name through the mud. An investigation is needed to reveal the extent of the damage caused. The Prime Minister must step up to the plate and give him both barrels.’

Royal writer Andrew Lownie added: ‘It is really time for a parliamentary inquiry into former Prince Andrew’s time as trade ambassador and how he personally enriched himself and his associates.’

Prince Andrew’s high-profile public role as roving trade ambassador between 2001 and 2011 was designed to promote British business and attract investment in taxpayer-funded overseas trips.

These meetings were intended to be organized by the Government, but in an apparent breach of protocol, emails reveal that Mr Stern, the London-based German businessman who was an adviser to both Andrew and Epstein, was asked to ‘help’ plan a state visit to China in September 2010. He then told Epstein he would add meetings with organizations the pedophile had quietly requested.

Writing to Epstein just over a year after the financier was released from prison following his conviction for procuring children for prostitution, Mr Stern said: ‘In line with your request, I will not be recommending industrial ministries focusing on ‘financial/asset management’ instead.

Another email shows Epstein arranging for Andrew to have dinner at the five-star St Regis hotel in Beijing with senior JP Morgan banker Jes Staley, who was later revealed to be the pedophile’s personal banker.

After arranging dinner with Mr. Staley, Epstein instructed Mr. Stern: ‘Confirm with Andrew.’

Emails seen by this newspaper reveal Andrew insisted the first four days of his visit were ‘private’.

During the trip, Mr. Stern sent Epstein an email of what appeared to be secretly taken photos of Andrew meeting multiple young women. There is no suggestion that anyone was a victim of either Epstein or Andrew.

The photos also show a seemingly oblivious Andrew enjoying a ride on a bamboo river raft.

Three days before the trade mission was due to start, Mr Stern emailed Mr Epstein a photo of 23-year-old Chinese model Miya Muqi and said: ‘Having dinner with this P in Beijing on Sunday night. The letter P is used repeatedly in emails sent by Mr. Stern to Epstein as code for a vile and derogatory term for young women.

During the trip, Mr. Stern sent Mr. Epstein photographs showing Ms. Muqi with at least one young woman sitting next to Andrew at dinner. Ms Muqi, who later became an actress and yoga teacher, did not respond to the MoS’ request for comment.

This newspaper can reveal that billionaire Chinese media mogul Bruno Wu was among those attending the dinner party. A month after the dinner, emails show Mr. Stern telling Mr. Epstein that they should discuss “whether we can do wealth management for the Chinese” and stating that he wanted to “partner with Bruno Wu and get involved.” [Prince Andrew]’.

Later in the year, Mr. Stern told Epstein about a potential $1 million investment with Mr. Wu: ‘Because it’s [Prince Andrew] Maybe you’d like to take a look.’

Mr Stern said the deal involved ‘3 luxury brands and 3 clubs’. There is no evidence that any agreement was made. The MoS approached Mr Wu for comment.

In October 2010, Mr. Stern told Epstein that he was planning potential business deals thanks to Andrew’s trip. ‘Since the trip to China in September, I started following the meetings we had to develop/attract deals. “Is this true?” he said.

In an email to Epstein the following summer, Mr Stern proposed setting up a ‘secret’ investment company that would target ‘state-owned enterprises and private wealth’, adding: ‘This is the way to manage China’s private wealth.’

He said the proposed firm might be small but “it needs to feel, smell and actually be big, big money and power, including access to global power” – see. P.A. [Prince Andrew].’

The revelations come after Epstein allegedly boasted about sensitive information he received from establishment sources in Britain.

An adviser to the Middle East government who met repeatedly with Epstein said the pedophile boasted about getting information from Andrew, Peter Mandelson and a “third man” at 10 Downing Street, saying: “I turned the UK upside down.”

Deputy Chief Oliver Wright of Thames Valley Police said: ‘We continue to assess all relevant information and have no further comment at this time.’

Andrew did not respond to the MoS’ request for comment.

China discusses telegram sent to former Duke’s partner

by Mark Hookham

One of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s most senior aides has leaked a ‘sensitive’ diplomatic cable about China to the former duke’s business partner.

Amanda Thirsk forwarded a Foreign Office cable to banker Jonathan Rowland detailing meetings between the then-prince and leading Chinese politicians.

The cable was marked ‘sensitive’ and was intended for Government officials.

An investigation by The Mail on Sunday in 2019 revealed that Mr Rowland, whose father David was photographed with Andrew, was with him on a taxpayer-funded mission to China in 2010 and used that access to find clients for his family, Banque Havilland.

Leaked documents reveal how, following the three-day visit, Ms Thirsk, Andrew’s deputy private secretary, forwarded a cable to Mr Rowland written by the British ambassador to China, Sebastian Wood.

Mr Wood had sent the telegram to London through the Foreign Office’s secure system almost a month ago.

The telegram contains details of face-to-face meetings with Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan and Minister of Commerce Chen Deming during the trade visit.

Asked whether it was appropriate for Ms Thirsk to send him a telegram, Mr Rowland said last night: ‘That’s a question for her.’ He has been contacted for comment.

Andrew is also alleged to have passed a confidential Treasury briefing to Mr Rowland, who ‘remembered nothing’.
