JC Orders Municipalities To Clear Library Cess Dues in Nellore

Nellore: Joint collector Mogili Venkateswarlu has instructed officials to clear rising library debts in municipalities in Nellore district. A review meeting was held with the District Library Transition Committee in its chamber on Wednesday, attended by District Library Organization chairman Mekapati Shanthikumari, municipal commissioners and Nellore Municipal Corporation Deputy Commissioner Chennudu. The meeting focused on the collection of pending dues amounting to approximately Rs 50 billion. The Joint Collector directed the Nellore Municipal Corporation to pay Rs 10 lakh from its 2025-26 revenue and continue collecting old dues of Rs 30 lakh per month. Similar instructions stating advance payments and monthly installments have also been sent to municipalities such as Kavali, Gudur, Atmakur, Naidupet, Venkatagiri, Buchireddypalem and Allur. He also directed that a note be given to Kavali and Naidupet municipal commissioners not to attend the meeting. Officials have been instructed to ensure that donation collections are forwarded directly to the Regional Library Organization.
